Director's Statement

A film about the obsession with violence.

I am the writer & director of Pastiche. The stories I tell are of very dark subject matter taken directly from reality. They involve psychopathic and sociopathic villains that will stop at nothing to fulfill their merciless violent fantasies. Like my hero, Alfred Hitchcock, I believe that cinema is the safest place to experience fear. The audience will ultimately feel safe behind the silver screen. After such a thrill, they are left with a full awareness of the brutal existence of evil.

Pastiche is a film about copycats. It’s an imitation of non-fiction and fiction with a metaphysical touch. The villains, Sidney Loren & Kelly Cagney, are character composites taken from real-life serial killers such as John Wayne Gacy, the Toolbox Killers, Paul Bernardo, Karla Homolka, plus more. The crimes they commit are scenes directly taken from movies. Ultimately, their goal is to get famous for their heinous crimes and go on the scoreboard with names such as Eric Harris & Dylan Klebold, or even James Holmes. It boils down to the name and the reputation it brings with all of its infamy. They only have one goal, and it’s their ruthless violent fantasy.

Pastiche is a limited series and this is the first part. Hope you enjoy it. Lock your doors!
